A Korean Barbeque Heaven on Collier Road
Are you in the mood for delectable Korean Barbeque? Then take a drive down Collier Road in Buckhead. Drive for just a bit and you’ll pass the Hankook Taqueria at 1341 Collier Rd. Do not pass this place by.
It doesn’t look like much by the road: just a parking lot (that’s almost always full, by the way, so that should tell you something.)
Upon first glance, you might think to yourself: “A Korean Taco Joint?” It seems bizarre–even weird–but the uniqueness of the restaurant will soon win you over.
Though the restaurant is small, the reputation of Hankook Taqueria is huge. Chef Alton Brown of the Food Network even named the Buckhead taqueria one of his favorite restaurants.
Once you get inside, there’s nothing fancy about it. The dining area is cramped, but the staff is youthful and helpful. You order by yourself at the counter and then find an available booth or a table. However, don’t be daunted by appearances. The first time I ever went to Hankook Taqueria was the first time my taste buds ever experienced heaven on earth.
The food is nothing short of spectacular. I chose two beef tacos as my main entree and got side of sesame fries. The beef in the tacos was juicy and mouthwatering, and the tortilla was like soft pillow melting in my mouth.
Like the stereotypical American guy, I’m a total fan of French fries. It might sound odd that a Korean eating joint would make delicious “American fries”, but the fries at this Korean eatery are just about my favorites. The fries are crispy and come with spicy ketchup. If you decide to bring your family to this restaurant, Hankook’s fries are definitely on the “must-get” list.
Some items on the menu are “one in a million” dishes and cannot be missed. Consistent with any taqueria, the best thing on the menus are (you guessed it!) the tacos. They come with a wide choice of meats, from chicken to tofu and everything in-between. Of course with any good meal, you need a good side. The Korean sesame fries, the man-doo dumplings and the Daeji Gogi sliders are all excellent side dishes. The price range for menu items is $5 to $9. Whether you are going there for a snack or a full meal, Hankook Taqueria is the place to go for good, inexpensive food.
The restaurant offers dine-in eating and provides catering options as well. It is a great place to bring the whole family for an enjoyable eating experience. Go there, and you, too, will experience taste bud heaven.
