In Your Court: Senior Andrew Robinson prepares to rise to play college-level football and basketball, with some scholarships already under his belt.

Senior Andrew Robinson is one of the few athletes at the school who has the opportunity to play a collegiate sport after high school. But unlike most of those rare few, Robinson is in a league of his own with a chance to play both football and basketball in college.

The Dubs defensive standout on the football team took this past year of training very seriously and it garnered him much attention from schools such as Mercer University in Macon, Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. and Tennessee State University in Nashville. Of the preceding, he’s already received scholarship offers from Mercer and Tennessee State. “I am just so blessed to have gotten those offers and they made me and my family very happy and excited,” said Robinson.

What’s particularly noteworthy about the interested that Robinson has gained is the fact that he only played in one complete game for the team this year. During the August 17 game against Grady, he had two blocked punts, 17 tackles and of those 17, two for a loss of yardage. College scouts noted his monster performance in the Dubs’ win against Grady and that was all the evidence they needed to know he was ready for next-level competition.

While Robinson does not have any offers to play college basketball right now, he is bound to get some good looks this year after a solid season last in 2017-18. Last year on the hardwood, the senior averaged 10.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game, helping lead his team to a region championship. “He’s a really hard worker so I expect many good things out of him this year,” said head basketball coach Kerry Sarden.

The starting linebacker and starting forward has a great deal of potential and its expected he will be flourishing on the next level soon. His future will be exactly what he wants it to be, and with the work ethic that Robinson possesses, there is no doubt that big things are coming in the near future.
