Pumpkin Spice and Sweaters So Nice: It’s Fall Y’all

A New Leaf: Juniors Charlie Olson and Grace Choi embrace fall by embracing their favorite member of the gourd family, the pumpkin.

Even though it’s been hot of late and looking outside we see that the leaves are still green, the fall craze has already swept through the halls of North Atlanta. The season officially began on Sept. 22, but people have been preparing for the season’s coming since the start of the school year. From ordering Pumpkin Spice Lattes to looking for pumpkin carving designs, the students of North Atlanta are ready to start their fall traditions.

Perhaps one of the most venerated fall tradition is football. Whether you are a fan of NFL, college-level, or high school-level games, it is safe to safe that this sport is a beloved American pastime. “Going to Georgia games is definitely a highlight of the season. I love when it starts to cool off because it can get so hot in the stands,” said junior Bennet Speirs.

Another much-loved tradition is enjoying the seasonal foods. Fall is known its apple, sweet potato, and pumpkin-spice-flavored fare, which gives the cuisine a distinct culinary flair. “I love fall. When else can you get a pumpkin spice frappuccino?” said sophomore Ben Blauser.

For some though, switching out summer wear for warmer clothes is tradition enough. While some find it tedious to have to switch from wearing shorts and tank tops, others are eager for the change.  “I love sweaters and jackets,” said junior Nya Powell. “They look fashionable, and they are so comfortable.”

Even though fall is not quite here yet, the season is just right around the corner. The long, sunny days of summer will be missed, but North Atlanta students are more than ready for a change in scenery.  From adding more layers of jackets to your wardrobe to cheering at football games to making homemade apple pies, it’s clear that there is no shortage of fall traditions around.
