Northside Noisies Bring the Noise at Home Games
For several years now the Northside Noisies have been cheering on varsity Warrior basketball teams and in the process have turned the school’s gymnasium into a scene of amped up pandemonium.
Founded in 2012, it is a student-run group similar to the Warrzone, North Atlanta’s ranking school spirit club. The Noises have this mission: to encourage attendance and to promote spirit at home basketball games.
Not everyone has heard of the group but when they do, they like what they hear. “It’s cool that we have another group to promote sports,” said said sophomore Lilly Nail. “It will be fun to get revved up about another sport besides football.”
The Noisies name is derived from the school’s original Northside Drive location. Fortune would have it that the school’s new campus is still on something named “Northside” — in the current case “Northside Parkway” — so the name still makes sense.
Group leaders establish a theme for a game and they lead cheers for those who fill in what can be a crowded “Noises Section.” They encourage game attendance through groupchats, word of mouth, and lots of colorful posters in the hallways. This year, the Noises are even coming up with a t-shirt and it is being designed by senior Reynolds Jennings.
The seniors in the club run the group for the most part and decide the themes for each game as well as the chants to use during it. So far they have had many interesting game nights, including silent night and dressing up in different costumes.
With such great fans standing behind them, the Warriors are sure to have a great season. These crazy supporters will definitely go all out to generate enthusiasm for their home team. So look out for the themed nights and make sure to attend some of the Warrior’s basketball sessions this year!
