Glee Club To Bring Students Together in Perfect Harmony
Before long, North Atlanta will house its very own performance-based Show Choir. The group is led by President Fiona Liu and Vice-president Lenox Johnson, both sophomores. The two say they aim to create a welcoming and harmonious environment for students who share a love of singing, dancing, acting and all things music.
The Show Choir, or Glee Club, is defined as a combination of choral singing and dance, much like the popular show, “Glee.” The Glee Club is open to all students and seeks to educate the student body about the importance of music for both today’s and future generations of North Atlanta students.
The group will meet on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room H3042 in the Hillside Building, the room of theater arts instructor Carlos Hooper. Group leaders say they hope to encourage students to go beyond their comfort zones and push themselves alongside others in pursuit of a common goal. Throughout the year, the Glee Club will be working to prepare for an end-of-year showcase to bring the 2017-2018 school year to a close.
There are a lot of preconceived notions about what a show choir is all about, specifically that this singing format is similar to a traditional choir. But group organizers say their gatherings will be striking a whole different note. The North Atlanta Glee Club will focus on all forms and styles of dance and music. No matter your interests, members will be presented with opportunities to learn and perform pieces tailored to the groups individual interests.
The team looks forward to meeting and working in harmony with students all year long. And consider: missing out on this awesome opportunity will only lead to treble.
