Junior Chandler Binder Abides By Biggest Rule: “Be Different”
The ability to have enough confidence in oneself and completely tune out everyone else’s opinion is a great thing. Intertwine a unique sense of style and fashion with the aforementioned confidence and you have sophomore Chandler Binder. With an eclectic wardrobe, Binder mixes-and-matches pieces that combine to form fashion masterpieces in the end. His wide array of outfits creates a unique experience throughout the school year and is a sight to see.
Now a junior, Binder has consistently stood out from out from his peers and he said he thrives off of it. Would you be inclined to come to school with swimming goggles as a fashion accessory? Binder did it and owned it as a fashion statement. “It just came to me and I felt like I could make it happen,” he said.
Basketball jerseys backwards? Yes, Kriss Kross rocked that back in the 90s, but Chandler brought it back with vengeance during his sophomore year.
In his adoption of the motto “Be Different,” he strives to make sure he is noticed and does so by not fitting in. “People’s opinions have never affected what I wear but just made me wear it more,” he said.
As for his flamboyant sense of style, there is not a routine Binder follows but rather a complete happenstance that results in his outfit for that day. Now this could be a cause for bad fashion faux pas for most, but Binder always pulls it off. “The most important thing that makes my fashion sense unique is that I wear what I like and it just happens to match,” he said.
However, one very important aspect that decides what he wears is something completely out of his control: the weather. But with his distinct fashion sense and ability to pull any outfit off, Binder works his way around. “I pick my outfits based on the weather and what I think I can pull off,” he said.
Binder, with his keen but “different” fashion sense is ready to take over North Atlanta. His outfits, outgoing attitude and drive to be a “fashion god” will be a sight to see in years to come. He sums up his personal philosophy in a manner that’s consistent with his push-the-fashion-envelope stance. “Being different is the motto so don’t ever be scared to be different,” he said.
