Prom Dress Dilemma

Students are continually looking for prom dresses, even during school.

Prom is a moment in time that every girl dreams of; but that dream isn’t complete without one thing… the perfect dress. Girls all over North Atlanta are rushing to find that one special dress before someone else buys it because, obviously, that means they can’t wear it. “I don’t feel the pressure of getting a prom dress because I am going out of town to get mine,” said Brittiany Royster, senior.

The theme of prom is “Enchanted Castle” but who actually dresses to match the theme? The goal instead is to find a dress that makes you look AMAZING, that your friends approve of, and that it is within your price range. “The dress I originally wanted ended up being $500 so I decided to lower my standards and buy one for $64,” said Becca Rowen, senior.

However there are some that think prom is not worth it, or that the tickets cost too much. There are also always people who think that prom isn’t an experience worth having, or that going once is good enough. “I’m not going to prom because I think it is a waste of time,” said Kyra Vandiver, senior.

For the girls that choose to enjoy the experience of prom, finding the dress is only half the battle. There is also the issue of shoes, hair, makeup, and jewelry that makes you truly shine.

This year’s prom will be held at the Saint Regis Hotel in Buckhead. Thankfully, it is not held in the school gymnasium like some unfortunate homecomings were.

Another “accessory” for prom would be a date. Some come in the form of a group of friends or a significant other. A group or person to be with is almost as important as the dress.

Picture parties are what you really need to prepare for because when you are at prom, you don’t care about how you look, you are just want to have a good time. “You’ve got to take pictures so you have something to look back on,” said substitute Lymn Love.

The pictures are what will be remembered, because at the end of the night, your hair will be a mess, your shoes will be off, but you will have had the time of your life.
