North Atlanta Rocks (and Rolls)!
Though many music enthusiasts say rock and roll is a dying genre, here at North Atlanta it is alive and thriving. With multiple rock bands sprouting up, it’s evident that many students are taking their appreciation for music to the next level. But who exactly are these young rock and rollers?
One notable contributor to our school-based musical scene is the band Cold Feet, which is made of seniors Colin Forsyth, Bradley Reeves, James Hunt and Ian Rohring. The band focuses on rock style music and writes many of its own original musical concoctions. Cold Feet has given several performances at North Atlanta, including this year’s first North Star Talent Show.
Being a part of the band has proved to make an impact on their personal lives. “It has allowed me to meet many other like-minded people that I never would have met before” said guitarist Hunt “I feel like art really draws people together in special ways.”
This band is far from the only musical group roaming the halls of North Atlanta. Another crew of musicians is known by name of No Solution. It is comprised of sophomores Devon Gates, Chris Robinson and Micah Mclane. The band is mostly a rock and blues band but recently has been experimenting with various other genres including funk and jazz. Their music has recently been in demand and they have played at dozens of gigs in venues as varied as bars to festivals. Gates, the band’s lead vocalist and bass player, said being in the band has been a whole new kind of education. “Playing has taught us a lot about professionalism and business. And being in this band has allowed me to progress more fluidly in my musical development,” she said.
We can hope that bands like No Solution and Cold Feet will continue to keep the legacy of rock and roll alive here at our school and that the band members will have a rocking good time doing it.
