Music Midtown Returns for Its 21st Edition

Music Midtown, Atlanta’s biggest music festival, is back. The event, now in its 21st edition, is this weekend, Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. Scores of North Atlanta High School students are expected to attend. “It’s the must-see music event of the year,” said senior Lizzie Darby.

General admission tickets are for sale online and are going for somewhat stiff amount of $125, a wallet-burning figure that does not include service fees. For any students with money to burn, you can always go the VIP ticket route where tickets range in cost from $600 to $1,200.

The event will feature a whopping 30 acts on four stages with headliners Drake, Tove Lo, Panic! At The Disco, Elton John, Van Halen, Lenny Kravits and Hozier.

“I had such great time last year with such a great lineup,” said junior Sinclair Sparkes. “Even though the lineup is not as great, I still plan on having a great time.”

Each event-goer is keying in on different bands and stages. “I can’t wait to see Vinyl Theater,” said Darby.

Music Midtown is a carless event, so attendees are encouraged to bike, walk, Uber or take MARTA. A bike park is available on 10th Street across from Grady High School Stadium. If you have a Super VIP ticket, car parking will be available.

Re-entry to the event is permitted but you must have your ticket scanned out when exiting. Pets besides service dogs are not permitted so don’t bring your Yorkie in a bag. With only a few until showtime, North Atlanta’s students are amping up for whatever the weekend offers.
