A Few Words with Mr. Whitman
The relaxing days of summer are over and the school year is in full swing. Robert Whitman, one of the most popular members of the administrative staff here at North Atlanta, shared his thoughts about the new year. He, among many others, holds high expectations for the progress and accomplishments the year will bring. “I plan to increase my commitment to a better functioning building and a better school,” Whitman said.
He’s been a part of the North Atlanta family for many years, starting out as the athletic director and then advancing to the assistant principal in 2013. Through this time, his extensive amount of commitment to the betterment of the school has remained strong. When asked about the many changes with school policies and procedures, he stressed that all policies and rules are enacted with student well-being in mind. “We want to be reasonable and our policies to be feasible,” he said.
He is an administrator with a clear vision and he knows where improvements need to be made. “What went well today?” “What were the challenges of the day?” “How can these situations be managed?” He said there were a few of the many orienting questions that dominate his thinking each day.
It is obvious that Whitman is a valuable member of the North Atlanta family. Not only is he an exceptional leader, he also exhibits more Warrior pride than almost anyone in the building. Whether he is strutting around as Maximus, our mighty mascot, or hard at work in his office, Whitman’s school spirit remains. “Regardless of where we come from or what we look like, we are Warriors and we are together as one,” Whitman said.
