As the sun emerges and the familiar chill in the air flees, students at NAHS become eager for what is approaching: spring break! It is not uncommon for students to quickly become burnt out with all of the second-semester stress. Fortunately, NAHS provides a second winter break in February; however, no other break can compete with spring break. Between the smiles in the sun and the jitters about summer approaching, spring break is a much-appreciated time at NAHS.
This year, similar to past years, Seniors have organized a large trip to the Dominican Republic with their fellow classmates for a final fiesta before graduation. Bonds that have developed over the past four years will be further developed. Alongside many other seniors, Bella Van Nostran cannot wait to take a week off with her best friends. “After hearing about how fun senior spring break was from my sister, I have been counting down the days,” said Van Nostran.
While some seniors will be found relaxing in the sand, other NAHS students will be found elsewhere, such as in the mountains. No matter where, the beauty of nature cannot be overlooked. Junior Price Heinz will be found in the mountains of Montana, spending the trip alongside his family. It is common for students to yearn for a day filled with tropical activities, yet it is equally common for students to enjoy the thrill of relaxing in the mountains. “We go to Montana a lot, but usually to ski, so it will be nice just to have some time to reset and chill,” said Heinz.
Although traveling during breaks is always a pleasure, some students prefer a staycation. A week all to themselves to catch up on work, spend time tanning in their backyard, binge-watch all the shows on their watchlist, or catch up with siblings on their life can be as rejuvenating as a week at the beach or mountains. Freshman Lila Cate Krapp will certainly enjoy a week at home that is free of school chaos. “I can’t wait to have so much time to tan and shop with my mom,” said Krapp.
As soon as the final bell rings on April 4th, students will rush out the doors with overwhelming excitement. Students who will reach waves and sand, mountain peaks, ultimate relaxation at home, and more will return to NAHS refreshed and ready to learn again. Get excited, NAHS! Spring break is right around the corner!
