With yet another Track and Field season fast approaching for North Atlanta, two dazzling Dubs have already made a name for themselves in the National track and field scene. Seniors Malique Ferron and Keayari Lee have been utterly dominant in the indoor AAU track circuit this season, both achieving national top 10 times in the 60-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash respectively. With their ambitions and attention squarely focused on helping the Warriors secure yet another region championship, they look to key contributors and eventual state title contenders.
Malique Ferron has run at North Atlanta since his freshman year, finding an instant love and affinity for the hurdles, excelling at both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. However recently he has brought his success into the indoor circuit, where he has proven himself to be a rising star in the 60-meter hurdles. He quickly cemented himself as a serious state contender after achieving a top-10 national time in the 60-meter, coming in with a time of 7.98 seconds. This time is also currently the number one indoor time in the state. Ferron has continued this dominance into the outdoor season with a current season best of 14.82, consistently winning his heats. Yet this time is still lower than his previous personal best of 14.2, and he looks to break into the 13-second range by season’s end. He has made a massive leap the last two seasons to propel himself into the forefront of the Georgia track and field circuit. “It’s all thanks to the hard work I’ve put in during the offseason, and I’ve had to work for every pr and medal,” said Ferron.
Keayari is a new face at North Atlanta, but a well-known presence across Georgia track and field. Lee has been one of the most dominant athletes in the class of 2025 since his freshman season. After three years of dominance at Westlake High School, Lee transferred to North Atlanta for his senior season, where he has made an instant impact. In the indoor circuit, Lee dominated the 200, 300, and 400 meter events. He currently leads the state in the 300 and 400 meters, with times of 33.55 and 46.99 seconds, with the 400-meter time placing him top 10 in the country. He quickly transitioned this dominance to the outdoor circuit as well, breaking the school record in the 400 meters in his first meet as a Warrior with a time of 46.86 seconds. This time also places him number one in the state. “I strive to be the best day in and day out, and I’ll do whatever it takes to be great,” said Lee.
These two Warriors are both outstanding athletes and they will be key cogs in yet another North Atlanta region title and potential state title run. They both look to score in multiple events, a massive part of the Dubs region title defense, hoping to make it North Atlanta’s fifth straight. Along with their contribution to team success, both Lee and Ferron have individual state title aspirations and have more than enough talent and work ethic to ascend to the summit of Georgia track and field, as so many Warrior greats did before them.
