Hearts, Flowers, and Chocolate, OH MY! February is the season of love. February is the season of love, everything turns pink and red, and hearts seem to loom everywhere. It’s when heart-shaped goodies take center stage and we all pretend to be “good” for our health as we indulge in everything sweet. From donuts to ice cream, these special treats had us love-struck fools but in some cases, regretfully disappointed.
Baskin Robin’s Love Potion- The wait is finally over. The 31-flavor sweet shop introduced this beloved treat in 1995 and has never looked back. The ice cream combines a swirl of white chocolate and raspberry ice cream with a tart raspberry ribbon. But like many whirlwind romances, it’s not for everyone. Though it is a favorite season while love is in the air, our taste buds kindly refused. #RasberryRegret
Dunkin Donuts Cupid’s Choice:
When America needs donuts Dunkin delivers. Or so we thought. This heart-shaped donut is filled with Bavarian Kreme (whatever that means) and topped with strawberry-flavored icing and sprinkles. The pink frosting was by far the highlight of this treat, making us think it was love at first bite. By the second, it was not. Sadly the appearance of the donut fooled us into thinking the flavor was more “buss” than it was “sus.” #DunkinDispoints
Krispy Kreme’s Blooming Heart Donut– In this season filled with love, flowers are blooming over at Krispy Kreme. After a miss with Dunkin, we wasted no time heading over to Krispy Kreme the minute we saw that hot sign turn on. This heart-shaped treat was filled with a luscious cookie-and-cream filling, dipped in purple icing, and topped with sprinkles. With each bite better than the last, our taste buds can confirm that this donut delight was delivered. #PurplePerfection
Pillsbury Red Velvet & Oreo Cookies – (Isn’t Red Velvet just chocolate with red food coloring?) Coming out steaming from the oven with the perfect cookie shape, these red velvet treats are perfect for a Valentine’s Day treat. The crunch on the Oreo add-ins and snappy edges mixed perfectly with the soft and chocolatey middle from the red velvet. Fresh out of the oven or eaten once they’re cooled, they’re still absolutely fantastic. #ReliableRedVelvet
Valentine’s Day desserts aren’t always perfect, but like a good love story, they leave an impression. Some are sweet, some too much, and some of unforgettable in the best way. To the ones that made it, and to learn from the ones that didn’t. And don’t fret there’s always next Valentine’s for another round of sweet choices.
