Valentine’s season is starting to roll around, along with the overwhelming amount of red and pink decorations and pollen. Love is a beautiful thing to witness, and some people celebrate this holiday season with a special someone that is just yearning for the 14th to roll around so they can spend time with their partner. Here are some popular ideas from some couples and their most romantic moments.
According to Eva Shade and Sam Riddick-Seals, their favorite date spot is Ton Ton at Ponce City Market, however the entire market has amazing opportunities for everyone with an abundance of different food items, from different cultures, and even a bakery for those with a sweet tooth. The top floor is filled with plenty of sightseeing and shops from black owned businesses. There are also furniture stores and a huge toy store. Riddick-Seals claims that the most romantic thing Shade has ever done for him was making him paper flowers for his birthday during the first year they were together—completely by hand. Shade expresses that Seals took her to a fancy candle lit dinner while they were in Washington, D.C. performing with the school orchestra at the Kennedy Center. The date they have always longed for differ in some of the best ways. Shade wants to go to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with Seal, while he wants to go to the Peanuts Museum.
Just like Christmas, some people’s holiday will be spent at home with some chocolates from CVS, while splayed out on the couch watching rom-coms. Our couples gave their personal go-to Valentine’s day movies. Seals thinks that “The Parent Trap” is the way to go where twins Annie and Hallie swap identities to give them both a chance to spend time with the parents they have missed. Kairi Licorice claimed a classic go to movie with “How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days.” Dane Sharp says that “The Princess Bride” is his go-to. Some other great recommendations from students are “10 Things I Hate About You,” “The Notebook,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” “While You Were Sleeping,” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”
Instead of lounging on the couch and crying over “The Notebook,” people could be spending their Valentine’s Day out and about on the streets of Atlanta with some of the best date ideas from our couples. Adelaide Middleton recommends “Put Shack,” “Le Colonial Atlanta,” and “H-mart” in Doraville. Aya Ghamlouch advocates for “Atlantic Station,” “Madison Yards AMC Theater,” and the “Georgia Aquarium.” Armani Tabron nominates “Atlanta Botanical Gardens,” “Activate,” and “Andretti Karting”. Teresa Arellano-Reyes says that brunch at a local restaurant, “the High Museum,” or a drive-in movie at “Starlight Drive-In Theaters.”
