Love it or hate it, the most controversial holiday is just around the corner. As February 14th draws near, love fills the hallways of North Atlanta in the form of roses, teddy bears, and heart-shaped chocolates. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, let’s take a closer look at some of the school’s most adorable couples:
Mia Yoo (10) and Triston Willis (10)
Seventh grade ELA class sparked the love between these two. Yoo and Willis have been good friends since meeting, always walking together in the halls and working on assignments together. Finally, on November 23rd, 2024, they became official, and have been inseparable ever since. For one of their first dates, Yoo and Willis visited Ponce City Market where they ate lunch, walked around the shops, and played mini golf on the rooftop.
“My favorite thing about Triston is that he is always there for me. He’s a great listener, and spending time with him is my favorite thing to do. He’s always been an amazing person,” said Yoo.
“I could never nail down just one thing I like most about her since she is perfect, but some of my favorite qualities of her are patience and tenacity. Even for things she may not enjoy, she puts in so much effort to make sure everything is done properly and perfectly,” said Willis.
Reese Dumont (10) and Victor Ramirez (11)
The school musical can be thanked for the special bond between these two. Ramirez starred as “Regina George”, and Dumont played the role of “Shane Oman” in North Atlanta’s production of Mean Girls. Their shared theatrical talents helped them form a special bond over the past year, with one of their favorite memories being building Legos in Piedmont Park. Dumont and Ramirez feel they have gotten so close by constantly expressing their feelings and leaving nothing up to miscommunication.
“Around Victor, I feel like I can truly be myself, and I don’t have to hold back who I am,” said Dumont.
“My favorite thing about Reese is his eyes,” said Ramirez.
Francie Herring (10) and Grant Benner (11)
Herring and Benner met in early May at E. Rivers Elementary School and spent the entire summer working together as lifeguards. After hanging out all summer, Benner asked Herring out the day before school and have been dating for about six months since then. Herring and Benner are both great soccer players and love to go on active dates where they play sports like pickleball.
“Grant is very caring, sweet, and super supportive. I think the most important part of our relationship is not being too clingy and having boundaries,” said Herring.
“My favorite thing about Francie is her personality and that she can make a conversation out of anything,” said Benner.
Adrian Beard (9) and Sophia Makovetska (9)
In eighth grade, Makovetska was switched into Beard’s Spanish class, where they sat next to each other. They started dating on February 14th of 2024, and this Valentine’s Day will mark their one-year anniversary. Their favorite date spots are the Georgia Aquarium and Atlantic Station.
“My favorite thing about her is how kind and sweet she is and how much she cares about me. I think our relationship has lasted because of communication and trust,” said Beard.
“My favorite thing about Adrian is that he puts a lot of effort into our relationship,” said Makovetska.
Maxx Trombley (11) and Isaac Scott (12)
Walking around North Atlanta, Trombley and Scott are a superior redhead duo. Over two years ago, Trombley and Scott met on a double date with mutual friends at a movie. They have now been dating for two years strong, and have spent each of their anniversaries at many students’ favorite restaurant: Houston’s.
“He’s super funny and can always make me laugh,” said Trombley.
“My favorite thing about Maxx is how easy she is to talk to,” said Scott.
Noah Salzman (12) and Savana Church (12)
For this couple, February 14th is an extra special day. Last Valentine’s Day, Salzman asked Church to be his girlfriend, meaning this Valentine’s Day will mark one entire year together. One of their favorite memories was a Chattanooga day trip, where they went on a hike and visited the Chattanooga Aquarium. Salzman and Church agree that the key to their successful relationship is being there for each other, no matter what, and always having one another’s back.
“My favorite thing about Savana is her big heart. She loves so big and always makes sure I know that,” said Salzman.
“My favorite thing about Noah is his kindness and that he always puts others before himself,” said Church.
Ann Clay Jones (10) and Jackson Allen (10)
This couple has been together for as long as anyone can remember. Jones and Allen have been dating for over three years, with all sorts of incredible memories. Some of their favorite things to do are go to Braves games and visit the Botanical Gardens around the holidays. Jones believes the key to their long-lasting relationship is supporting each other in everything. Jones never misses Allen’s sports games and loves cheering him on.
“My favorite thing about Jackson is how present he is in every moment and he pays attention to everything. He’s also never on his phone when he is with me,” said Jones.
“I love Ann Clay’s generosity and how she is always on top of everything,” said Allen.
Piper Curnow (11) and Miles Glover (11)
Juniors Curnow and Glover have been friends since eighth grade and began dating in March of sophomore year. When hanging out together, Glover and Curnow love getting a bite to eat, especially at places like Flower Child, Yumbii, and Willy’s. Moreover, their favorite date together was jumping at the trampoline park, Sky Zone. Glover and Curnow agree that the key to a good relationship is involving each other in all aspects of their lives, especially with friends.
“I love how I can talk to Miles about anything and he is always super understanding,” said Curnow.
“Piper is hilarious and always makes me laugh,” said Glover.
