When students and teachers were away from the school building enjoying their Holiday break, a fellow Warrior classmate became an internet sensation in the span of just a few weeks. This student’s head nod and dance moves hold a kind of “aura” to them. Angel Wiley became a worldwide phenomenon after a video from August 2023 of him and his mom Renee Montgomery, who is a WNBA veteran, dancing courtside at an Atlanta Dream game. The video resurfaced on Instagram and has been spreading like wildfire since. However, this call to stardom has revealed more than just some of his dance moves, as the increased visibility has allowed Angel to put himself out in the open shining light on his music career. 

     Angel Wiley may have become internet famous over break, yet there is something else that is much more important in this young man’s life. He recently committed to attend College at Boston University where he will be majoring in film and television. A prestigious University, it is clear that Wiley’s academic skills match his virality. “I’m excited for next fall, Boston University is a beautiful place,” said Wiley. 

     Wiley plans on continuing his singing career as well where he has recently released a new extended play called, “ALGORYTHM” featuring 4 new songs. He has been a musician for quite some time now and it is one of his favorite hobbies that he had maintained over his high school career and even before. The new EP has been in the works for a while and fans look forward to giving it a listen. “ The EP took me a few months to perfect, I’m really proud of how it turned out,” he said.

     Wiley’s timing couldn’t have been better to release his new album as the icon gained over 1500 followers on streaming platforms amidst all the internet chaos. Besides his Spotify account, “Chopped Chin” has racked up almost 500,000 followers across all social media platforms, and the videos that have been posted about him have amounted to millions upon millions of views whether it’s on Instagram or TikTok. Many of his classmates have taken notice, the first day of school consisted of massive mobs of people following Wiley around the school asking him to, “Do the nod, Chopped Chin!” 

     Although Angel has been overwhelmed with the paparazzi and mobs herding around him, not all of the fame has been a bad thing. Not only has he had the opportunity to promote his music career but he also has begun Twitch streaming to put his internet popularity to use. With streams that include playing videogames and talking about his meteoric rise, fans can get a lot of interaction through this endeavor. “I actually enjoy streaming on Twitch a lot, I really just get to be myself,” said Wiley.  

     Whether you call him Angel, “Chopped Chin” or “CC”, the past few weeks have been quite the adventure for Angel Wiley. With Wiley looking to capitalize on his fame regardless of the context, he surely has the talent and intelligence necessary to find his footing in whatever he decides to pursue. However, the only question of the new year is, did Angel Wiley buy the property in Egypt? I guess we will never know…
