As the grass greens, the birds chirp, and the flowers bloom with the onset of spring in Atlanta, the Warriors pick up the bats and gloves in preparation for a new season of America’s favorite pastime: Baseball. Of North Atlanta’s many sports, Baseball is one of the more popular programs, consistently attracting fans to fill the bleachers at home and away games. However, historically they have not had the records to show for it, tallying only a few seasons with records of multiple games above .500. Could 2025 be the year for North Atlanta Baseball? We’re about to find out.
The offseason has certainly been an eventful one, as North Atlanta renovated their ballpark over the past few months, just in time for the new season. Players and coaches alike say that it was much overdue, as the conditions on the dirt and in the grass were less than ideal. However, with a brand new field, gone are the days when players can chalk up mistakes to bad conditions. “It feels good to be playing on a new field in 2025”, said senior Ben Mason. “The old one was a mess and I’m glad to be rid of it, but truth be told, I’ll miss blaming a bad play on it!”
With the new venue, comes a fresh, exciting roster to play on it. Although the team lost some valuable seniors like Ira Jefferies-Harris and Sam Neal, both of whom are playing at the collegiate level, the current seniors are prepared to step into new roles. Also, North Atlanta will be adding two new, 1st team All-APS transfers to the roster: Eli Pitts and Julian Carter. As for the returning players, everyone is motivated and excited to hit the diamond in a few weeks. “Our squad is super well balanced this year,” said senior Ian Reynolds. “Every guy does their job well and if that can happen the whole season then we are in for a deep playoff run.”
It’s safe to say that these ball players are confident in their team, no matter who’s on the mound or in the batter’s box. However, as far as strength of schedule goes, there will be some heavy hitters lined up to face off against the Warriors this year. Their series’ against Denmark in mid-March and West Forsyth in early April will be ones to watch out for. Also, the GHSA reclassification that happened over the summer is sure to spice up region play and eventually the 6A playoffs in late April. “We’re ready for anything this season,” said senior Hudson Thomas. “No matter who the GHSA throws at us, I know we’ll be able to take them.”
While it seems that players, coaches, and fans of NAHS Baseball are confident this year, they’ll have to back up the talk on February 10, where they face off against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate at home. Knowing these talented athletes, there’s no doubt the Warriors will be bringing big bats and quick pitches to 2025.
