The rise in Warriors athletics has been undeniable within recent years, with history being made across a plethora of sports squads at North Atlanta. However, with success comes great rewards and the upgrades have been consistent. Over the past couple of summers, we have seen renovations to both the football field and the baseball field alike, with the fields and the diamond respectively looking cleaner and aesthetically pleasing. Neither of these changes holds a candle to the biggest rumor of them all, however, as there has been buzzing news about there being a potential stadium being implemented at the football field and track at the school. While the date is undetermined as well as if this rumor is going to come to fruition, this hasn’t at all halted the gossip of the North Atlanta and Georgia athletics community.
Of the four major sports that participate at the football field currently being soccer, lacrosse, track and field, and football, the latter of the bunch is said to benefit the most from a potential implementation of a stadium. For as long as we can remember, the North Atlanta football team has showcased their talent at Henderson Stadium, sharing a field with their cross-town rivals of Midtown High School. While Henderson has been a staple for the NAHS athletic community to come together and has been a good home for the boys, many at the school look towards a potential brighter future at our very own stadium. Of those hopefuls lies Junior Quarterback Ryan Edwards, who wants to come into his senior season playing at his own “home”. “Being at our very own stadium would be electric and if we can somehow get that to happen I know that all of the boys will be amped come next year,” said Edwards.
Coaches and faculty are just as amped for the upcoming seasons not only from the sense of a suspenseful athletic campaign, but now new circulating questions regarding the future of the North Atlanta field. The elimination of issues regarding practices versus games or meets and where they are being held is a major selling point of the new stadium and has led to increasing intrigue and hope from coaches. Long-time veteran soccer coach at North Atlanta, Epimenio Jimenez, is one of those who thinks the news would be incredible to hear for all of Dubs athletics. “The stadium would truly eliminate all problems with all of the sports happening at the same time. I say they make it a reality,” said Jimenez.
Despite the news at the moment just being mere speculation, the rumors are bringing needed suspense to the 2025 and 2026 seasons. This has only spurred more and more attention for North Atlanta athletics even past the bounds of Atlanta and signifies the love of the Dubs in so many places. The potential of the stadium only shows the mountains that the Warriors have trekked and climbed and shows the undeniable heights that can be reached at North Atlanta High School.
