After an incredible run in the 2024 GHSA playoffs and region championship, the Dubs Boys soccer team is shaping up to have an even more historic campaign in the 2025 season. Through club soccer play as well as captain-organized practice every Friday throughout the fall, the boys have kept fit and in shape. Chemistry, a major value that the coaches and staff have honed in on is also built throughout the program, bringing optimism and excitement for the upcoming season.
The team’s preparations extend beyond just physical fitness. Throughout this fall, captain-organized practices have been a critical part of keeping the players sharp and cohesive. These sessions have focused not only on technical skills and conditioning but also on strengthening the bonds between teammates. Before these practices, an interesting meeting in October generated excitement, with several new and returning players eager to be a part of the team and make an impression on the coaches. Junior and first-year Captain Grant Benner has been at the forefront of these pre-season efforts. “Our focus this year is more than just playing well on the field, it’s about building a brotherhood that will carry us through the tough times on the field,” said Benner.
The majority of the team’s players have been staying active through club soccer during the high school off-season. Club soccer has been known to provide invaluable experience, allowing players to compete at a higher level and refine their techniques. This has also helped to build team chemistry as a lot of the Dub players are on the same club team or play against each other, fostering competitiveness and an understanding of each other’s playing styles. Senior and Captain Junior Moreno who has been a part of the program since he was a freshman, finds club soccer especially beneficial. “Having the boys and I play club soccer, no matter what team, helps us keep sharp and ready for high school soccer come January,” said Moreno. The club helps us not have to worry about getting fit for the high school season, and we can just get straight into game planning.”
With strong preparation and unwavering dedication to having another strong season, the North Atlanta Boys Soccer team is poised to begin the 2025 season in the spring. From high-intensity captains practices to the top level expectations of club soccer, the team’s commitment to staying fit, sharp, and united has set the stage for another successful campaign. This upcoming season promises to be filled with excitement and growth as the team builds on its previous achievements. With a strong roster and shared drive for success, the dubs are ready to make a statement in 2025.
