Christmas trees are coming up and the cozy smell of peppermint can only meet one thing, Trader Joe’s holiday lineup has arrived! To spread some festivity and even some honesty, we have decided to come back and dive into the 2024 holiday collection to weed out the ates, hates, and debatable of this season’s treats.
Peppermint Ice Cream Cones
The cone was visually appealing, but the first bite was even more attractive. A chocolate cone filled with peppermint ice cream was pure holiday magic. It had a nostalgic minty flavor that reminded us of candy cane in one bite and toothpaste in another. However, it is the perfect size and sweetness for anyone who wants a bite-sized treat to kick off the holiday season. This ate!
2. Eggnog Yogurt
Before we had even tasted it, we gagged at the sight and smell of the yogurt. Despite our stomachs churning, we took a bite, one bite being all we could manage as it tasted more spoiled than seasonal. Whoever decided to combine the tangy sourness of yogurt with spiced flavors might want to go back to the lab and rethink the decision. If you’re an eggnog enthusiast, you might still want to avoid this one as it was hateful.
3. Jingle Jangle Pretzel Twist
Pretzel, covered with peanut butter, candy, and oreos, triple the size which makes it worth your buck. However, the flavor was more “meh” than magical as it tasted predictable to match the usual festive hype. If you are a fan of the sweet-and-salty combo, this might be worth a try, yet compared to other holiday snacks, they are better on the market. Whether it is a hit or miss? That’s up for debate!
4. Dark Chocolate Orange
This is a holiday staple, dark chocolate infused with citrus essence, shaped like an orange, and requiring a real crack to break into a bite-size piece. It is a wonderful treat for someone who loves citrusy sweets. However, Bradley had one bite and decided she would stick with regular chocolate so this is all personal preference. Love it or leave it, the choice is yours.
5. Chocolate Brooklyn Babka
Babka is a traditional Jewish treat with its roots in Eastern Europe. The Trader Joe’s versions paid homage to this holiday treat. With buttery layers of dough with rich chocolate separating the two, it was mouthwatering, a holiday delicate that holds cultural significance. Trust us, this is an eat!
Whether you are here for the hits or misses, the holiday lineup will always have something special and extra cheer for your holidays.
