With the first semester coming to a close, North Atlanta wraps up another successful fall sports season. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest stories from Football, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Softball.
Of the fall sports, football undoubtedly made the biggest wave this year, finishing 9-2 with a perfect 7-0 region. To top off the greatest Warrior football season ever, securing their first ever region championship. Unfortunately, their season came to an end early in the GHSA playoffs, going down to Peachtree Ridge. On this historic team is senior OLB Chase Linton, North Atlanta’s highest rated recruit ever who will be attending the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. He is one of seven players continuing their football careers at the college level. “It was special to be a part of North Atlanta Football’s greatest team yet. I know that the legacy we left will continue to reap greatness.” said Linton.
Cross Country finished up a solid season before Thanksgiving Break, boasting a couple noteworthy performances in the GHSA State Championships and the Georgia Meet of Champions. Junior Cabell Townsend placed 21st in the Boys 5K with a time of 17.05 and 17th in the 3200 with a time of 9.45, finishing up an impressive season as the boys top runner. For the girls, junior Kathryn Brown and sophomore Gwenyth Ferguson had strong seasons, culminating with the former finishing with a time of 21.03 in the GHSA Championships 5k. “It was a good season but there’s still a lot of room for improvement,” said Brown.
As for Volleyball, Softball, and Flag Football, their seasons haven’t been much to write home about. However, there are still some moments, players, and games worth noting. Softball sent two seniors to play for Division 1 athletics: Charlotte Brown for Georgia Tech and Vivian Carroll for College of Charleston. Despite finishing 12 and 15, Volleyball had their best record in over 4 years, a massive step up for a promising program. They also secured big wins against Whitefield and Holy Innocents.
