The sensational, one-of-a-kind cookie bakery: Crumbl Cookie. The franchise was founded in 2017 by Sawyer Hemsly and Jason McGowan. Based in the city of Logan, Utah, the bakery transformed its world-renowned milk chocolate chip cookie into the famous weekly rotating menu they have today. Now, with over 1000 stores across the United States and Canada, North Atlanta students eagerly anticipate their next bite into the gooey, sugary bliss.
Each week the brand releases six unique and specially-made gourmet cookies. Nearly all the baked treats create a mouth-watering sensation just by their appearance. But, there’s always one flavor that sparks the question of, “Whose idea was this?” To sophomore Melissa Roohi, this was the “Kitchen Sink” flavor. The cookie was constructed with a blend of sweet and salty features: chocolate chips, pretzels, and potato chips. The cookie resembles a diverse array of flavors from each bite coming from the phrase, “everything but the kitchen sink.” “To me, the grainy cookie, soggy potato chips, and chocolate chips clashed,” said Roohi. “They basically copied Panera Bread’s Kitchen Sink cookie but failed.”
Is there any idea Crumbl hasn’t thought of? While most North Atlanta students stick to their favorite old flavors, some are dreaming of new additions that should be added to the menu. Sophomore Kenzie Hart hopes to see a Peeps marshmallow flavor debut on the Crumbl lineup. These sweet marshmallows have been a hit during the holiday seasons, but it would be interesting to see how Crumbl could incorporate them to create another delicious dessert. “Just picture it: a fluffy, yellow Peep marshmallow Crumbl cookie. It would be a total hit!” said Hart.
In the first week of September, flavors included strawberry shortcake, triple chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chip, banana bread, churro, and The Afterlife cake. But how did the dubs rank these? The triple chocolate cookie was ranked at the top of this week’s list. Its rich chocolate taste might have been too much for a few, but many believed it was just right. Next, was the semi-sweet chocolate chip. How could such a classic go wrong? Coming in third was the Beetlejuice-inspired cake called The Afterlife. Its dark chocolate taste created a rich sensation. The churro cookie came in fourth with its cinnamon toppings and sweet aftertaste. Coming in fifth, the strawberry shortcake was not a common favorite due to its bland-tasting cookie and creamy frosting that did not favor many people’s taste buds. Finally, the banana bread came in last with its undercooked texture. Banana bread lovers were disappointed in Crumbl, as their high expectations weren’t met.
Crumbl Cookie rose amongst the other cookie bakeries with its weekly flavors and consistently delivering fresh, exciting experiences. By expanding the chain of stores across the country, these cookies have captivated North Atlanta students, leaving them hooked for each week’s surprise. Most “normal” teens wake up on Sunday mornings thinking about their days, but the Dubs find themselves awaiting this week’s brand-new line of treats.
