Atlanta was recently alive with the buzz of music as two renowned country artists had their concerts less than a week apart. Funnily, they share the same last name. Zach Bryan and Luke Bryan electrified audiences with amazing concerts at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Truist Park respectively. With their music spreading far and wide, North Atlanta students within that range of reach, many students were able to see the audiences live. The question is, who is deemed the better artist out of the two Bryans?
Around NAHS, students are filled with their opinions on this debate. Students who chose Zach Bryan described his music as “folky”, which could be listened to on car rides and studying. Others who attended this concert describe it as a “once in a lifetime experience”. The setup was simple, with string lights spreading over the pit while the screen behind the band helped audiences far back see ZLB himself up close. Crowd favorites included, “Something in the Orange”, “Tourniquet”, “Oklahoma Smokeshow” and “28,” songs even North Atlanta Students agree are some of his best. Sophomore Sadie Barber was one of many who had the chance to hear his setlist live. “His songs have so much variety,” said Barber. “They are really good and have both upbeat and slow vibes.”
Others tend to lean towards Luke Bryan. His concert filled up what seemed like every seat in Truist Park, even the field for those who got seats right in front of the stage. Not even the rain could stop the energy in the crowd as his music seemed to give everyone the same feeling. Luke Bryan’s music is constantly described as “feel-good” with songs like “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, “Play it Again”, “That’s My Kind of Night”, and (ironically) “Rain is a Good Thing” which seemed to be among favorites in crowds at the concert and fans here. Senior Tess Moody who attended the Luke Bryan concert, said, “His music is very upbeat, engaging, and catchy.”
Despite both these great artists, some students lean in a completely separate direction with their tastes in music. Instead of Zach or Luke Bryan, other students listen to Jason Aldean, Tyler Childers, Bob Marley, and other singers, whether or not they are country artists . For senior Kiyani Kerr, her go-to artist right now happens to be Willow Smith. “It’s not that I don’t like them, I just don’t listen to country music,” Kerr said. “I listen to Willow Smith because she has a unique sound and sings in many different genres with different instruments.”
As the Battle between the Bryans rages on, the question remains eminent: Would more votes go to Luke, Zach, or a completely separate artist?
