For most people, spring means blooming flowers, chirping birds, and rising temperatures. For seniors, however, spring may mean something different: their last high school dance, their last high school finals, and their last games. With their high school days coming to an end, seniors have countless things going on in their lives. After four years of tests, grades, classes, and clubs, they are now only two months away from graduation—a ceremony that symbolizes their emergence into adulthood. So, how are the North Atlanta seniors preparing for this upcoming season?
With only one month left, seniors are wrapping up the loose ends of their high school career. Students spend their time ensuring their grades are straight, preparing for exams, and focusing on piles of homework. For those going to college in the fall, they work on finalizing their choice, visiting colleges, and submitting online essays for scholarships. Spring means the payoff of four years of hard work, less worries, and cherishing moments with their family and friends before graduation. This is the end of their high school career and as scary as it is, seniors still focus on their great memories. “Despite all the stress, in this season I love seeing plants and animals come out after winter, and baking my favorite lemon cherry cake,” senior Kensington Eden said.
As seniors, preparation for the next phase of their lives is very important. For those going to college, tests such as their IB and AP finals are crucial to their plans along with class grades. North Atlanta’s seniors are preparing for the tests, college visits, and applications that come alongside the start of spring. “This upcoming season of testing is scary,” said senior Morgan Macklin. “But I’ll get there, take the tests, and move on.”
Through this important time, seniors are also working on ways to destress and focus on the positive during their last months as high schoolers. By going on trips during spring breaks, relaxing, and staying calm by listening to music or a tv show, seniors do their best to avoid the stress of testing and future plans. Once they have prepared for their tests and finished their applications, all that is left is to have fun as high school comes to an end. “I’m looking forward to the ending of my high school musical,” said senior Maya Ford.
The future may be scary, but it marks an exciting season of our seniors’ lives. The end of high school just means the beginning of a new era. They have done their 12 years of school, and are now in the final stretch. Having prepared for all of their academics, it’s time to sit back, hang out with friends, and await the exciting adventure of a new stage of their lives.
