Shaq and Kobe, Batman and Robin, Bonnie and Clyde, Idris Fornie and Marlon Somersall; when people mention dynamic duos these are usually the pairs that pop into mind. Aside from being an iconic combo in the halls of North Atlanta, the friends can be described by those that know them as well rounded- and as even model students. In addition to their success in the classroom as honor students in the IB program, they are both varsity athletes while also running successful clothing companies. With Fornie as a varsity 400-meter dash runner and Somersall as a midfielder for the varsity lacrosse team, some theorize there is nothing they can’t do. How do they balance the academic, athletic, and economic components in their hectic lives all while maintaining success in each?
Idris “Roger” Fornie is a model student whose interests include LazerDim 700, sports, and cartography in addition to his aforementioned fashion and investment interests. Hailing from Garden Hills elementary school before then going to Inman middle school, Fornie displayed his natural affinity for school early on. His career in both track and field and fashion did not take life until his freshman year in the 2020-2021 school cycle. His freshman and the start of his sophomore year on the track were respectable as a contributor in the JV realm while also cracking the varsity rotation and seeing time there at the end of the year. This year as a junior he has made his transition to a full-fledged “White Jersey” or varsity runner, competing in every varsity meet so far. Also coming in his first year of high school, Fornie’s life as an entrepreneur started with Stardust ATL as a cofounder. All in all, Idris has shown his versatility throughout his first couple years and truly displayed what it means to be a North Atlanta Warrior. “Ever since I’ve known him, he’s been an innovator going back to our Garden Hills days,” said junior Hunter Black.
Marlon “MJ” Somersall aside from being a faithful and steadfast friend to Fornie (and vice versa), is a lacrosse athlete, fashionista, and star student. Formerly of AIS, Somersall has excelled in his time at North Atlanta academically as a member of the National Honors Society among other things. Playing lacrosse since his freshman year, he worked his way up the ranks while learning the highly skill-oriented game for his underclassmen seasons. This year Somersall joined the varsity roster this year as a junior facing all the premier teams of the Atlanta metro area and more. Alongside Fornie, Somersall founded Stardust ATL in 2020 and after 3 years of success with their joint company, handed his business partner the reins before branching off to start a new brand by the name of Konflict ATL. The company has sold out 2 drops of their most popular item the “Bayonet Shirt” since it debuted for sale on January 27th and since has launched once more on March 1st. Ever since his arrival at NAHS he’s been a force to be reckoned with in every facet of his life. “It’s been really cool to see how he’s developed as a player on the lacrosse field as well as seeing what he’s done in life,” said senior Gabriel Eckart
No one in the halls of North Atlanta High School has heard “You two are always together” more than Idris Fornie and Marlon Somersall. Not only are they known to be thick as thieves and as agreeable with each other as any friendship the school has seen in recent memory, but they show their exemplary character everywhere they go in the process. Women want them, men want to be them, and the youth look up to them for guidance. The only question left to ask about the legendary Big 2, is what can’t they do? As they look to the future, nothing is quite certain aside from the fact that their ironclad bond will not fade with the weathering of the years and success is surely in store.

Congratulations MJ and Idris. You are truly a force to be reckoned with at such a young age. There is nothing you cannot achieve if you continue on the path you are on. I wish you continued success in everything you do and God Bless you both. MJ, your mom and dad are truly 2 people who have successfully raised amazing children. Kudos to them also. We love you all.

As an Auntie I am so proud of my nephew Idris and his friend. My prayer is I hope they continue on the right path and be able to pull their brothers and sisters upward with them.
