As autumn approaches, North Atlanta students are embracing the change from stylish shorts and tanks to a warmer wardrobe. Chilly temperatures have made their way into Atlanta, inspiring outfits stemming from sweatsuits, UGGs, sweaters, and more as staples for autumn.
The beginning of fall brings change and new trends to the halls of North Atlanta. Many students have embraced sweatsuits, sweaters, and fleeces. The perfect mix of coziness, warmth – and of course – style. Not only are the leaves turning new colors, but students have included more reds, oranges, and browns in their wardrobes, as opposed to the brighter pinks and blues worn during the summer. Fall is an exciting time for fashion as it brings out different color schemes and clothing elements that have been on hold since spring and summertime. One student, junior Kacey Walker said, “I enjoy getting to layer my outfits, whether it be adding tights, leggings, or leg warmers. It allows me to bring out different parts of my style.”
Fall footwear is a big trend among the students. Last year UGG released The Mini Boot and the Ultra Mini which have taken North Atlanta by storm. All over the place, these shoes are seen with a variety of outfits. Cozy shoes are all the rage right now. They are an easy match and a perfect convenient shoe for when one is running late. Many students have begun to accessorize their UGGs as well by adding little ribbons and bows to the sides of their boots and shoes. This is often inspired by singer Gracie Abrams, who like UGG minis, is also gaining popularity. Freshman Francie Herring said, “UGGs are my favorite fall shoes because they are both comfortable and warm, but also stylish and trendy.”
Whether that be magazines or influencers, both hold a tremendous influence on the fashion and trends of students at NAHS. Influencers such as Alix Earle and Acquired Style both have encouraged buying UGGs and given names for the best sweatsuits. Another big influence is Vogue Magazine which has many articles discussing the latest fall colors and the best sweaters for the season. Vogue emphasized the love for sweaters by describing their comfort and cuteness along with the amount of variation in colors, crops, and cuts. Sophomore Mary Ellen Little said, “I have taken much inspiration from Vogue this season. Their fall articles have influenced many of my outfits – from sweaters to skirts to coats.”
As autumn arrives in North Atlanta, students are transitioning their wardrobes, embracing fall colors, and enjoying the opportunity to layer their outfits. Additionally, UGG boots and slippers have become popular footwear choices, providing both comfort and style. The fall season brings about new fashion trends and allows students to express their individual styles in different ways.
