With the dominance of the Warriors softball team within the past few seasons, we clearly can see the emergence of some stars on the roster. One of those stars includes Junior pitcher Vivian Caroll, a major contributor to the Varsity team for the past couple of seasons.
Vivian’s love for the game stems from her youth, as her parents exposed her to what would be her passion starting at the age of six. As her mother was a softball star herself, Vivian would follow her footsteps into the game starting from recreational ball. While it seemed like her mom “forced” her into the game, Vivian began to love the game as she got older and started to take it more seriously. “It felt like as each day and game passed, I started to get more passionate about the game,” said Carrol, “Now, I don’t know what I’d do without it.”
Her passion has especially been shining this year, as her progression on the field has been immaculate. Her improvement has not gone unnoticed, as the poise she has shown on the field in the toughest situations is that of the greats. Vivian says that her drive truly picked up when she stepped foot at North Atlanta High School, as she started taking the game seriously during freshman year. Rather than seeing it as just a hobby that she enjoyed, she started looking towards the future and manifesting softball into her college career. “I feel like high school has been a true eye opener for me in terms of softball,” said Carrol, “It’s like I can’t let go of it anymore.”
The topic of college softball is one that incredibly excites Vivian and is starting to seem like a true possibility. The interest for her is currently on the rise, as more and more colleges are yearning for her talents to come to their program. However, at the same time, Carroll also wants to prioritize her equal educational prowess in college, which could pose a major conflict for her. Regardless of the difficulty and weight this decision holds for Vivian, her desire to play softball at the next level is undeniable. “At this point, I feel like I’ve worked too hard to quit now,” said Carroll, “It’s like I’m a little kid and softball is my favorite blanket: I never want to let go of it”.
No matter what the future holds for Vivian, her sights are currently on the present and continuing the incredible form that her and the Dubs team are on right now. Winning 9 of their last 10, our Warriors face off against an impressive Etowah Eagles team that boast a 16 and 5 record, where a win would prove to be a pivotal one in maintaining the momentum the girls have to round off the season on an all-time high. As for Vivian, her final game pitching during the regular season will be a gametime decision, but there is certainty that she will finish her year off with a bang.
