Here it is, another year another slang breakdown for teachers and students alike at North Atlanta High School. Handpicked by the bigwigs of the Warrior Wire, two white boys fresh off the streets of Buckhead are here to break down the lingo for you.
Dawg-
- A close friend or companion; “Yeah love that dude, he’s my dawg”
- Someone elite at their occupation or job; “The Dubs football team has been a bunch of Dawgs this year!”
- – Someone who has that “it” factor, perhaps this person may not be particularly skilled, but successful nonetheless, “Flacco is mid but he was clutch in the 2012 playoffs. He’s just got that dawg in him”
Cuh- To say “bro” or “dude” in a more humorous manner; “Let me copy your homework, cuh”
Function- Synonymous with party; “The function on Friday was so insane it got busted by the cops!”
Potna- A word for a close or even best friend; “Me and my potnas are getting dinner tonight.”
Opp(s)- used to describe someone or a group of people that you mutually despise or dislike- the opposition- for context, Nudy’s opps see him more than his potnas; “Bro I was at the function and I saw the opps!”
That’s Crazy– used in a deep conversation of zero interest in which the listener is trying his/her very hardest to leave the conversation while also being polite; “Oh, you got a new vacuum? That’s crazy.”
Rizz- another word for spitting game at someone or charisma when attracting a romantic partner; “This guy’s rizz is insane, he just got that girl’s number in two minutes!”
Shook- A state of being extremely surprised or taken aback; “I just got a 36 on my Literature test, I’m shook”
Real- Used in response to a claim that is relatable or agreeable; “Zaxby’s is better than Chick-fil-A? That’s real.”
Lil Bro- Used to express excessive dominance over another individual; “I better not catch you lacking lurking these streets no mo’ lil bro”
Jawn- Applicable to replace any noun regardless of context; “I’m out this jawn”, “This jawn is tasty”
Locked/Dialed in- Used when someone is 100% focused on a certain assignment or duty; “I have a 25 in one of my classes, I need to lock in”
Clapped- Used when something looks out of sorts or disgusting; “Your buzz cut looks bad because your hairline is clapped”
Trim- Synonymous with fly or fresh; “Dang!!! He’s trim as a mug”
Let Him/Her Cook- To let someone do their thing because they’re onto something; “His 18-leg parlay is about to hit? LET HIM COOK”
On my mama- To promise or to be honest “On my mama Trae Young owns the Knicks”
Glazing- To hold an unprecedented bias- whether positive or negative against someone; “Michael Jordan is not the GOAT, stop glazing”; “You’re glazing, Johnny is not that bad at”
Tuff- Valid or fresh; “The new NFL Throwback uniforms are so tuff!”
Easy Pickins- Someone or something is easy to compete with; “He is so bad at basketball, he’s easy Pickins!”

Like potna, if you show up to the function like that, you’re my opps, you may be thinking, “That’s crazy cuh” but you shook. That’s real. You got L rizz AND you’re easy pickins. Ya’ll tryna be tuff as a mug but truthfully you’re not trim!
