The 2023-2024 school year has just begun, and it won’t be long until Dubs sports are up and running once again. From the fan-favorite North Atlanta football crew to the electric Esports team, NAHS has a wide variety of games to keep students and fans entertained. As the NAHS athletic department prepares to take flight, many students are readying to suit up for their favorite team. Although there are so many sports to choose from, it’s hard to decide which one students are most excited about.
North Atlanta has its fair share of student-athletes, and just like their fans, these athletes are eager for the kick-off of their respective sports’ seasons. For athletes, however, it’s more than just fun and games. On the field, they put in the work to push each team to its fullest potential. Although the inaugural match won’t take place until April of 2024, North Atlanta’s soccer players are fired up for their upcoming season. “As a soccer player, I’m really pumped for the season to start again,” said junior Colin Shaughnessy. “I want to get back into the action, improve my soccer skills, and play alongside my teammates, who have become like my brothers.”
As a North Atlanta crowd favorite, the football team draws an extensive congregation to every home game. Known for its notorious student sections, North Atlanta’s football team boasts one of the largest show-outs of students and parents across all Dub sports. Even though North Atlanta uses Midtown High School’s field for home games, the amount of students cheering on Dubs football players from the stands makes it seem as if the stadium belongs to North Atlanta. This coming Friday, the Warriors will take to the stadium for their first home game of the 2023 season, to be followed by four more home games, with hopes of snagging a couple more if they are able to secure a playoff spot once again this year. “I love going to every home game for our football team,” said junior student Reagan Lerne. “It’s always a ton of fun to be there alongside so many other students.”
With so many sports at North Atlanta, it’s no mystery why students have such a hard time picking their favorite sport to watch. Fans have a lot to look forward to, with eight other North Atlanta sports also starting during the spring season. In the winter season, six more will be added to the roster, while the spring season brings along five. Throughout the year, North Atlanta will be packed with activities to keep fans excited.
