A new era at North Atlanta High School has commenced. A group of inventive minds is reshaping the world of clothing with their unique vision and innovative approaches. These trailblazers are not content with following the established norms; instead, they are carving out their own paths, infusing art, technology, and culture into every stitch and seam. Students at NAHS have taken fashion into their own hands, fearlessly pushing the boundaries of style and setting a new standard for what it means to be fashion-forward.
Fashion is a universal gateway to self-expression. The choices we make in our clothing, accessories, and overall style send powerful signals about who we are and what we stand for – transcending the barriers of speech and showcasing identities through style. Senior Xavier Ellison started his own brand because of his passion for creativity and his love for fashion. “Our Destiny” consists of cropped hoodies, zip-up jackets, sweatpants and graphic tees. “My biggest inspirations for fashion are Ian Connor and YoungLord,” he said. “I really appreciate their ability to put together unconventional outfits while wearing them with confidence.
Fashion allows individuals to showcase their art style and share their perspectives through a diverse field of expression. With inspiring others in mind, Senior Quentin Fields created his brand, “Worst Boys,” featuring a variety of pieces – graphic tees, sweatshorts, and sweatpants with exclusive self-sketched designs. His first collection, “Lone Narcissist,” is a rendition of his own emotions transformed into a symphony of fabrics, colors, and silhouettes. Fields’ biggest fashion inspiration was renowned Off-White designer Virgil. “Fashion is extremely personal yet influential,” he said. “I wanted to share my perspective with the world and make a difference in the process.”
To present his new brand to the world properly, Fields held a photoshoot. Senior Sanaa Shahid had the incredible opportunity to be one of the models in his shoot. Shahid has had previous modeling experience, so she had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting others on set. “The photo shoot went really well,” she said. “I’m really proud of Quentin, and I am excited for his brand to officially drop.”
The journey of building a clothing brand is no longer confined to the elite; it’s now an avenue where anyone with a compelling idea and unwavering dedication can make their mark. As we witness the fusion of artistic expression and entrepreneurial spirit at NAHS, it becomes evident that the future of fashion rests upon the shoulders of these trendsetters. These fashion-forward Dubs have made it evident that any idea can be made into reality.
