Amidst the star-studded Warrior’s football team stands Junior defensive back Chase Linton. Linton’s talent lives up to the strong acclaim he has received over his two years on varsity for the Dubs. As the Dubs gear up for the challenging 2023 season, Linton stands resolute, ready to lead the strong defensive squad through a rigorous 7A schedule.
Like all great players, Linton has some lofty goals that he believes the team can reach. With a historical last season where we saw our Warriors win the first playoff game in the school’s history, Linton thinks this season’s team has the unit to take that next step. “I think the team has what it takes to make a deep run this year,” said Linton, “We’re here to make even more history this year. The boys are ready to do great things!”
As for Linton himself, his expectations for the next two seasons are just as sky-high as his 6-foot-4 frame. Linton’s goal is to rack up 30 sacks while he is a NAHS Warrior. While that tally may seem ridiculous to some, it aligns modestly with Linton’s remarkable skills of sacking the quarterback. Beyond his stat sheet suppositions, Linton has a strong focus on playing at the division one level. With offers from Georgia State, Appalachian State, Memphis, and UMass before the beginning of his junior season, the goal of division one football is definitely on his path. “The plan is to get 6 offers from Power 5 schools,” said Linton, “Why 6? No idea. It just seems like a satisfactory amount.”
Throughout the praise and college attention, Linton is remarkably grounded and appreciative of the opportunities he has received. Linton knows the Dub team is a brotherhood and he treats his teammates with the respect and love they deserve. He is known to be a great teammate, a strong leader, and a smart player. He is an athlete any team is lucky to have, especially for another two years. “Chase is an amazing teammate, let alone a very nice kid,” said teammate David Hughes, “I’m very glad I am not playing against him.”
It is only the dawn of Linton’s dominance in football, but the stardom that has already begun to rise. Linton’s junior year debut showed another standout performance that earned him a defensive player of the game award. Linton’s efforts helped lead the dubs to a televised 3232323 win against Johns Creek in the Corky Kell Classic. With performances like this, week in and week out Linton and the Dubs will continue to rack up the dubs in competition.
