North Atlanta star Olivia Granot dove into a pool of success last year, and she is only getting better. As the Diving Dubs prepare for their upcoming season, Grant and her nine teammates are looking to make a splash.

Granot started her dive career at her neighborhood pool in Brookwood Hills. As a Brookwood Bullfrog, she dove for multiple summers, improving her skills and competing in local Summer League competitions. When she came to North Atlanta she was eager to join the squad and is now entering her third season competing for the Dubs. Competing for the Warriors is not enough for Granot as outside of Atlanta Public Schools (APS), she has found success as a member of the Junior Olympic Swim Team club team.

Already a decorated diver, Granot looks to add to her trophy case as a Warrior. She competes in all available categories–forward, backward, inward, reverse, and twisters. Inward dives, her personal favorite, consist of divers standing with their back to the water, taking off, and rotating toward the board. “I love inward dives,” said Granot. “Diving in untraditionally makes competing so much more fun.”

While she found a natural talent for diving, Granot’s skill set has developed through hard work and hours of practice. Every time she is in the pool she has the same mentality and routine. She rarely strays from her warmup and stretching regimen, which has become second nature. She works through her sets and then lets her creativity and physical ability take over, trying out new dives to add to her arsenal. Her favorite thing about diving is it provides an escape for her. She gets a sense of accomplishment and loves seeing herself progress. “I am a goal-oriented person,” she said. “Seeing myself get better and achieve my goals makes all the difference in the world.”

It is hard to top what Granot has already accomplished. Last year she became the second-ever APS woman to qualify for State Championships, the district-wide record holder, and was nominated for both the Bravest Diver Award and the Positive Athlete Chapter Award. Despite this, a new year ushers in new expectations for Granot. She expects more out of herself and hopes to continue her already-strong career. “This season I expect to break my record score and hope to have a few more state qualifiers,” said Granot.

She has proven herself time and time again. This year, Dubs fans can expect nothing less. Granot, a more complete diver than ever before, will look to continue her diving dominance this season.
