On Top of the World at the Sun Dial Restaurant
Atlanta is known for housing some of the most delectable, mouth-watering places to eat. Trust me, I would know as I’ve tried many of Atlanta’s finest options and many of its best-kept secrets too. So those of you searching for a more formal option with the family that’s worthwhile, look no further then the Sun Dial restaurant.
Located in the heart of downtown in the Westin Peachtree Plaza, the restaurant sits perfectly on top of the 73-story building which is the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere. The interior of the restaurant will remind you of those fantasy dates that only happen in movies. While the lights are dimmed and music plays softly, it spins slowly to give its guests a 360-degrees bird’s-eye-view of Atlanta.
Go ahead and bring your crown and tiaras, and get ready to be treated like royalty, even if you’re not ordering high-dollar drinks, (after all we are in high school, right?) As soon as you step inside you’re greeted by restaurant staff with welcoming and enthusiastic energy. After my family and I were quickly seated, our waiter was always attentive and caring, and there was never a time where we needed anything, from something small like a refill to something big such as more bread.
For the main course I decided to try the Sun Dial’s signature wood roasted salmon. Let’s just say this: it was delicious. The salmon is seasoned so delicately and it was cooked perfectly. The dish was executed perfectly, down to the warm colors of the ingredients, which became a feast for my eyes even more than my stomach. The servings were small and expensive, but I’d take quality over quantity any day.
For dessert I kept it simple and ordered their creamy vanilla cheesecake. It had a nice and classy appearance with a small whip cream swirl in the center, and a strawberry that sat comfortably on top. It definitely wasn’t a classic from the Cheesecake Factory, but it was pretty good.
Even though I would love to keep the Sun Dial all to myself, I think I’m a little too late for that. The place is catching on with the younger set and high-schoolers are now frequently found among its diners. It’s no secret that Sun Dial may become one of the hottest restaurants in Atlanta, even among Warriors looking for an elegant night out.
